Tragically, 39 people lost their lives as the result of a collision on South Yorkshire roads in 2023.
A further 802 people suffered serious or life-changing injuries.
This is simply not acceptable.
The South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership is a group of local authorities, emergency services and public sector organisations working together to prevent people being killed or seriously injured in collisions on local roads.
We have adopted the Safe System approach to casualty reduction which places shared responsibility for road safety at the heart of saving lives.
Working with the public, each of the partners has a role to play in the Safe System through road safety education, enforcing road traffic laws and installing, and maintaining, safer roads infrastructure.
Our hope is that by encouraging good behaviours and positive attitudes we can all make a difference and prevent the pain, grief and suffering associated with each and every road traffic collision.
We hope that you find this website to be a useful resource for road safety information and advice, as well as a place where you can share your opinions and concerns with us. You can contact us, or follow us on social media @SYSaferRoads. Either way, we'd be happy to hear from you.
