EAPCs don’t need to be registered, taxed or insured, and anyone aged 14 or over can ride one under the same rules as riding a normal bicycle.
But to qualify as a road legal EAPC, the e-bike must comply with strict official rules.
The Bicycle Association with the support of the Association of Cycle Traders has developed a guide to e-bikes in relation to all aspects of use as well as the law (see below).
