ROAD CLOSURE NEAR MEADOWHALL
Drivers in South Yorkshire are advised to allow more time for their journeys as the A631 northbound carriageway near Tinsley Viaduct will close for essential maintenance to gas pipes.

The A631 northbound (lower deck) carriageway will be fully closed between the Junction 34 southbound and Junction 34 northbound roundabouts (Meadowhall and Tinsley) for 11 weeks, beginning on Monday 27 June.

Cadent, which manages the local gas distribution network, is carrying out the work on gas pipes that run underneath the viaduct.

While the closure is in place, northbound traffic will be diverted along the A631 service carriageway. A footpath diversion will also be in place.

National Highways Project Manager, Sujad Hussain, said:  “We have worked in partnership with Cadent to plan traffic management and keep disruption to a minimum while the organisation ensures that communities in Sheffield can continue to have a safe and reliable gas supply.

“However, we do expect delays in this area, especially at peak times. We advise road users to plan their journeys, check traffic conditions before setting off and consider alternative routes if  possible.”
