Temperatures this afternoon will continue to rise for a time and the weather will remain fine.
 
However subtle changes are beginning to take place and unsettled weather currently out in the Atlantic Ocean is creeping towards us.
 
While the remainder of daylight hours will remain dry, a band of showery rain will pass through overnight.

The generally light-band of overnight rain will pass through steadily but it is the showery regime following behind that may lead to some heavy downpours or thunderstorms during daylight hours tomorrow.
 
In the more intense down pours, there is potential for 20 to 30 mm of rain in less than an hour and up to 40 mm in two hours to fall perhaps leading to some surface water flooding especially if that happens to be an urban area.
 
As a result, the yellow thunderstorm warning has been issued and valid tomorrow from 10am to 10pm.
 
This means:

• There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds

• Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services

• Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures

• There is a small chance that some rural communities could temporarily become cut off by flooded roads

 
Some strong gusty winds may also occur around very heavy showers and thunderstorms too.
 
The showers will tend to die out as we head through tomorrow evening with a drier night to follow however, Friday currently looks set to be another day when some showers could develop with temperatures much closer to normal.
