Three-time Olympic champion Ed Clancy is no stranger to a cycling challenge...but it was a race with a difference when the gold medallist took on the DynaMo Challenge as part of #RoadSafetyWeek
Our Active Travel Commissioner visited Community Safety at Lifewise Centre with South Yorkshire Mayor Oliver Coppard to have a look around the interactive learning facility where every year six pupil across the county is invited to take part in personal safety scenarios.
Oliver and Ed joined in one of the road safety scenarios which is aimed at pupils preparing to move up to secondary school and travel independently for the first time, in many cases.
The road safety education session focuses on positive behaviour including always using crossings, putting distractions away as well as an exercise in guessing stopping distances.
While at Community Safety at Lifewise Centre, we asked Ed to try our DynaMo electric bike which lights up relevant road safety messages using pedal power.
Of course, it was a piece of cake for our Active Travel Commissioner who talked to school pupils about his role to promote walking and wheeling.
Thank you to the pupils from #barnsley schools who cheered on Ed while raising awareness about a very important subject as part of #roadsafetyweek.
